The poster remains in excellent condition. In the film, James Bond was played by David Niven but in an attempt to hoodwink the adversaries at SMERSH, 6 other Bond doubles were created, one being Peter Sellers.įor an idea of relative value, at the time of listing, this poster was also available via ebay at $695. Because of the popularity of Sean Connerys Bond, and because of Connerys million-dollars-a-picture price, Charles Feldman decided to make the film a spoof. What finally emerged reflected the chaotic nature of the times being a bewildering potpourri of the great & the good, joyfully abandoning themselves to a byzantine script & wholly improbable plot. Casino Royale was the only Ian Fleming book not sold to producers Saltzman and Broccoli for the 'official' James Bond series.

When Charles Feldman, the owner of the rights to Ian Fleming's first novel 'Casino Royale', failed to form an agreement with regular Bond Producers, Albert Broccoli & Harry Saltzman (Eon Productions), the decision was taken to make the film as a spoof of the Bond genre. An original French poster (27'x 30') for this 1967 Bond spoof.
